You can also buy oil filled space heaters to keep your home nice and warm. Small sized rooms especially benefit from this type of heating. They are safe to use and are very economical. They are great for helping to reduce the amount you spend on heating oil and are convenient to use and very quiet.

Electric blankets are also a great source of heat. Getting into a freezing cold bed in the winter not something that anyone enjoys so an electric blanket is a great way to prevent this. Because you will be heating up the bed, you will not need to heat up the room so you can save on heating bills. With an electric blanket you can make sure that the bed is nice and cosy before you get in. By following these tips you can lower your heating oil bills during the winter and still be cosy and warm.

Another way to reduce oil costs is to reduce the temperature of your water. A lot of the time people have their water set to near boiling, and this is definitely not required and is just a waste of energy. Avoiding scalding is one obvious advantage of lowering the water temperature, on top of saving a lot of money on oil costs.

Older windows should be replaced if possible to prevent heat being lost this way. And having double glazing installed is also a great way of preventing cold air entering the house, which also means less heat is needed to warm the room up.
